Adding Chinese Character in SQL server Column

HI , I need some help to add Chinese character in SQL server column which is already having SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation. There is solution to change varchar column to nvarchar as they are going to support unicode data. But I am looking forward for any other solution so change in existing application not required.
