Microsoft seem to be getting close to a potential launch of SQL Azure. As far as I can tell, this amounts to putting SQL Server in the Cloud. Does anyone have any idea of a launch date?
Well, it has, in the last couple of days, gone 'feature complete'. I've been looking at making my tools compatible with it, and there's an interesting set of exceptions as to what will and won't work on azure. But in terms of a general availability release, I don't know.
SQL Azure is live and usable in beta form now. The paid service launches on Feb 1, 2010 according to MS. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsazure/faq/
