When to use JOINs in SQL?

Hi, I'm taking a course about Database SQL and I'm having some problems with JOINs. I know how to write them and everything about them but the problem is that I don't really know when to use them can anyone please help? My finals are in 2 days Thank you :)

At a high level, they are primarily used when you want to combine a field or fields from one table to the same field or fields in another table in order to combine the results into one result set.
