Cannot start debugger in SSMS on 2014 Developer Edition

I am unable to start the debugger in Management Studio on my instance of SS2014 Developer Edition. When I attempt to start the debugger I get the following error appearing in a dialog box: *'Unable to start program 'MSSQL:://./master/sys/=0'. An error occurred that usually indicates a coorupt installation (code 0x80040155).If the problem persists, repair your Visual Studio installation via 'Add or Remove Programs'in ControlPanel'* I am: Connecting to a database engine instance running on the same machine (Windows 10 o/s) Using my windows domain account which is a member of the sysadmin group I have tried repairing my SS2014 from the setup.exe as well as repairing Visual Studio directly in Add and Remove Programs. Does anyone have any suggestions, please? Many Thanks

Hi, Thanks for your suggestions, @kevaburg. Yes, I have tried starting SSMS as administrator. I am also in the sysadmin role. I am going to try re-installing SSMS and will let you know how that goes. Cheers

... and reinstalling SSMS didn't work. For now, I'll use the workaround of having a temporary table and writing to this in the stored procs that I want to debug. Crude, but at least it will let me see the execution flow. Many Thanks

Correction. The debugger DOES work in SSMS 2016. (I was still launching SSMS 2014) So I am now running SSMS 2016 against a 2014 database engine. Touch wood, everything should be fine. Thanks for help and advice
