License on active passive solution vmware

I allways had softspot for SQL License. How to do and what not to do. Now i have issue regards how to license an active passive vmware cluster. Here is my senario. I have an Vmware cluster with 4 servers, and I want to License my SQL's with Enterprise Cores license per fhysical Core. But i only want to reserve 2 host and lock the SQL Servers to them, can i use one of the remaining Hosts as a passive.? I know that if I only have 3 hosts its possible to use Active, Active, Passive and only pay for to hosts. But HA has to be turn off on the passive in Vmware. But if i turn off HA in the 4 server cluster, will all others servers not use HA. And all servers, not only the SQL Servers will remain on the 2 reserve hosts. So my questions is. 1. Can i use one off the remaining server as an passive server in SQL.? 2. Can is have two passive servers in an 4 Servers cluster.? 3. Do I have to pay for an SQL License for all the servers or can i have 3 active and 1 passive.? Hope it makes sense. Best regards René Larsen

Given the complexity of licensing, especially for Enterprise, your best bet is to contact your license provider and ask them. They should be able to clarify your questions.
