Need a simple form for data entry into a SQL Server 2012 database

I am in need of a simple form (or the process to create one) to do updates and inserts into a SQL Server 2012 database server. In a past life I have done programming in php, java, Visual basic, net and some html. I have seen some open source products on both CodePlex and GitHub, but I am not sure how I would or could check these out for functionality, I have created the back end for this project, but I know that the boss is going to want something to do updates and inserts sooner rather than later. I have thought about using Access forms as well. I would appreciate some ideas or preferences that the community would suggest.

If it's nice and simple, I would do it as a website. Saves having to install apps on machines and means you don't have to keep them up to date. Other than that, it depends what tools the company has paid or will pay for, and whether you want to learn something new or just get it done using what you know.
