SQL Server 2014 Std will not start after installation

We had an evaluation version of SQL Server 2012 standard - the period expired and now after uninstalling 2012 and installing 2014, the database engine fails to start.

Is this another evaluation copy?

No, it is a licensed copy through the MAPS partnership. The evaluation version was 2012. I have uninstalled it, rebooted, etc. I then installed SQL Server 2014 Standard and now have the issue the database engine won't start.

David, I really appreciate your responsiveness on my issue. I found that setting the Database Engine to NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE as the user in the setup got around the issue for me. SQL Server 2014 Standard is now up and running nicely! Thank you!

I would look in the Windows event viewer in the control panel and also in the SQL Server error log. That will be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log or possibly C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log. There's a file called ERRORLOG which should tell you something.
