Need a prof. orientation advise

My question is for professionals who master not only SQL Server, but other DB frameworks such as MySQL, Oracle etc... Do you think that it is a good idea to study wild-specter DB frameworks and become a... you know Database expert. I mean do not learn any object oriented languages with UI, just manage the data to be kept clean and optimized. Actually it would be nice if someone with such experience agreed to chat with me (FB, Skype...) so I can describe my question more efficiently. Thank you
