SPN not registering

For some reason when we run the command to register an SPN the results seem to positive with a 'updated object' as the result. However when I run the "setspn -l" command to check the registered SPNs the server in question is missing. I'm using SQL 2012 on Server 2012 R2.

Are you using a domain account to run the service? If so, it could be a permissions issue in Active Directory, the service account likely doesn't have the proper permission to create an SPN.
