In what sense? In terms of SQL Server versions? Or processors/computer architecture?

In terms of SQL Server these are just different versions of the product that are specifically designed to be installed on machines with those processor architectures, or more specifically on machines running those operating systems. You can install 32-bit SQL server on 64-bit OS, but not the other way round - ideally you would match version to OS.

There are a few differences in the product capabilities - memory-optimized tables aren't allowed is probably the main one. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143432.aspx

Stop thinking about 32bit, use 64bit (or are you also thinking about SQL 2000 ?)
