HOW DO I PERFORM SQL SERVER HEALTH CHECK
Can someone show me how to run some “server level” diagnostics on SQL SERVER make sure the box is generally in good health? Our SQL server seems to be having some real issues with MS SQL’s performance … especially on processes that we’ve relied on for years … and I can’t seem to figure out why. We had a brief power outage early in the week … and it “feels” like that’s when the issues began. I would like to look at the health of the database but I don’t know where to start from. Please help me on this one. I need to figure out something quickly and report to management asap. If there is any tool or script I need to run, please let me know. Thanks folks
I would suggest calling in a consultant that can more efficiently diagnose the problem. The main issue you are going to have is you are on SQL Server 2000 (going by how you tagged the question). Glen Berry's scripts are not going to help you any with that version.
I would strongly encourage that you read "Healthy SQL" Book.
