How do I replicate the same publication to different subscribers on the same server?

I have two servers A and B. Server A acts as a publisher and server B acts as a subscriber. Server A already has a publication with an article that is replicated to an existing database on Server B. I have been asked to replicate the same article in the existing publication to a different database on server B. How do I go about this?

  1. Should I add an additional transactional subscriptions on server A or

  2. Create a whole new publication with the same article and add a subscription?

If I go with option 1, what would happen if I’m asked to drop the publication?

I would go with option #1 and create a new subscriber. If you needed to drop the publication you should drop both subscriptions.

Yes! You can create another subscription on server B to the different database with the existing publication. If the database is encrypted with master key you may get an error saying create master key for the database.
