getting error on installing SQL Server 2008 SP3

Steps: Installed SQL Server 2008 R2. 1. Attempted to install SQl Server 2008 R2 SP3. 2. Getting error as below: 3. To quit SQL Server Setup, click Yes. If you quit the Setup operation, you must remove SQL Server 2008 R2 before you run Setup again. To return to SQL Server Setup, click No. 4. I got a link on internet for this error: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/06875d08-e3a6-4c54-957d-e4ee6eb07d99/if-you-quit-the-setup-operation-you-must-remove-sql-server-2008-r2-before-you-run-setup-again?forum=sqldisasterrecovery 5. However, I do not want to uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 and redo the installation. I can live without sql server 2008 r2 Sp3 patch.

If you have a partial install that has failed, I'm pretty sure you're going to have to do what it says and uninstall before you reinstall 2008R2.
