Recent Computer Science graduate wanting to get an SQL job asap

I just graduated with my Bachelors in Computer Science and my Associates in Computer Programming. I would like to get into SQL. Anyone familiar with any SQL jobs that you can do from home? I have minor experience with SQL and currently work as a Systems Administrator. Thanks in advance!

One job that you can do from home is help your peers with their questions on this forum. Monetary gain is not there, but you will gain in knowledge for sure! ;-)

Answering questions on this forum or other forums related to sql server will help greatly. Also, get the developer edition and setup a home lab so you can play with the more complicated pieces like replication, mirroring etc.

As a sysadmin, do you have the opportunity to assist with any SQL instances at your current workplace? Adding SQL to your current role would be a much smoother transition than completely switching to SQL. Are you more interested/experienced in SQL admin? dev? BI? ETL? Data modeling? Data maintenance? There are a lot of variations on the "SQL job" theme and expanding your current role to include SQL could give you good exposure to the various options. You can do pretty much any SQL job from home, the key is having the experience, professional network and follow through to open up those opportunities.

There are very few, if any, jobs available for someone with no knowledge and no experience. Instead, I'd suggest you start searching for volunteer opportunities where you can do the work for free, but gain knowledge and experience. In my career in IT, I've hired, maybe, two, entry-level people within the database team. That's in over 20 years. The work we do protecting the information of a business just can't readily be done, nor should it, by someone with no knowledge. Sorry about that, but it's true.
