Importing Foxpro dbf into SQLExpress 2014
has anyone successfully imported dbf data into SQLExpress2014? I have tried using several of the data strings on this site and others. I by no means am a SQL expert but can follow some basic instructions. any suggestions?
How are you trying to import the data? What do you mean by "data string"?
First of all I used wrong verbiage with data strings. I was referring to Threads previously listed SQL Server Central. As mentioned in other recent threads I have one working on Server 2008 R2 with full blown SQL. In the import pull down I have listed MS Office 12.0 Access DB Engine OLE DB Provisions. I picked this up on yet another thread and it worked for full blown SQL but I have not been able to duplicate in Express. I have the same version of Access DB engine of 14.0.7015.1000 loaded in control panel. I have tried establishing ODBC driver for FoxPro with no avail. ahhhh. I know that vendors like using FoxPro because of the lack of security built in but gezzz. I have been unsuccessful with setting up Openrowset, bcp, bulk import. Is FoxPro import become out of the solution set due to its age? of course I can convert dbf to Excel then import but this adds too much to some of our "end users" ??? thanks and sorry for the
If you have the FoxPro driver(s) on the server then you should be able to set up an ODBC, or OLE DB, connection. You can download the FoxPro drivers for free from Microsoft.
Yes, I have the MS FoxPro drivers already loaded. Before I pursue this any future do you know of anyone who can import dbf file into SQl 2014 Express. Just don't want to be chasing my tail you know.
