Grouping in SSRS

I'm not sure if what I need to do is even possible and I can't find anything about it, so I'm asking one of you experts. I have a report with a number of tablix items, what I need to do is show all the tablix items for each category on a separate page. Obviously I can group each tablix on a new page but I need to have 6 tablix items for one category on page 1, then the same 6 tablix items for category 2 on page 2 etc. I looked at using a rectangle but couldn't find how I could set a page break in it.

Heya Anette, I think you can do this if you structure your row groups like Category > Items Then you set page breaks on the Category group, and repeat headers on the tablix. This should in theory produce a table per category. Currently away from SSRS but that should work IIRC. ## Update Let's talk data first. In my head you have some cols like: - Category - Item - Value - Time (maybe!) So what you're trying to achieve is: ![markdown view of tables][1] How you achieve it depeneds on your data having the same items & time to ensure the contents of the table would essentially be the same. (You can fudge with some cross joins & unions) You can make it look like these are separate tables by using the properties on the group Category to set a page break after each one. Then you can hide the category column and no one would be wiser that it's from one tablix. [1]: http://i.imgur.com/34qvgqX.png

Thank you Steph, but wouldn't that page break each tablix but not have all the tablix related to the same tablix on the same page. Wouldn't it do all the categories for tablix 1 followed by all the categories for tablix 2 etc? Or am I being seriously dense!!!!

Ah I get it, that would work currently my data wouldn't fit into that, but that doesn't mean I couldn't get it to. I hadn't thought about doing it that way. I'll give it a go and let you know how it goes. Many thanks.
