Get the sql server license information and install on different machine

We have a box on which SQL Server 2008 is installed. My sysadmin wants me to extract that license and install SQL server on a different machine. How is that possible ? I believe we are using volume licensing.

Licensing is on a trust basis - there's no software license to activate. You would simply install SQL on the new server, and uninstall from the original server. You should be able to get the volume license product keys from the MSDN subscription website.
