No longer able to Login using Google OpenID

Hi Just wondering if it's everyone else, or just me - When I try to use the Google OpenID, I get a message from Google that OpenID 2.0 for Google Accounts has gone away. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6206245?p=openid&rd=1 Is this going to be fixed? Or, rather, is AskSSC going to be upgraded to use OpenID Connect?

Have duplicated the issue on my other PC. OK, they're using the same browser (Chrome), but, frankly, that really shouldn't make any difference...

I suspect the whole service is just dead and we need to upgrade. I'm putting in a ticket now.

@DaveC - did you get anywhere with this potential upgrade? If the service is not to be upgraded, can we remove the Google login option so as to avoid the confusion?

It's ongoing. DZone have developed a plugin to enable it on Answerhub sites, but we weren't able to get it running on here due to a needed upgrade on the site architecture. Last I heard they were testing it at the end of last week, but I've not been told when the upgrade is yet. I'm loathe to remove the button while we're perpetually on the cusp of having it working, so for now I'm going to leave it in place. As soon as I know more I'll post here.

OK, OpenID should be working again - can anyone who was struggling try logging in via the new, irritatingly large Google icon? If you have issues with the new configuration, please let me know here.

Had to re-add as an authentication, but after that worked fine for me

Cool, I'm going to cautiously mark this as solved. It will require adding as a new authentication, as it's a new protocol for all intents and purposes. Should be broadly the same as before once you're past that though.
