re:How to use Database mail feature in SQL Server 2000

I followed the steps outline in the url below to create a link server on SQL server 2000 . However, when I tried to execute a test job, sql server denied access. http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/SQL+Server+2000/69475/ error Server: Msg 17, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Does anybody have a clue as to whats going on?

does the SQL login you used have permission to the SQL 2005 server? Can you browse the catalogs in the linked server using enterprise manager?

yes , the SQL login has permission to the SQL 2005 server

no . I get Error 17: SQL Server does not exist or access denied when i clicked on tables under the lined server node

Try creating the linked server using the GUI. Maybe some item on your command line wasn't quite right. Can you post the actual command you ran?
