Database Mirroring

I would like to know keeping Mirror and witness server's in same instance is good practice? After configure the database mirroring is ldf file will grow randomly? Thanks, Pravee

The preference would be to separate the witness from either of the servers involved in mirroring so that there is not a common dependency that brings the whole thing down.
