Need to install SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2008 Server

Trying to do logshipping little differently. So the full backups and log backups are happening on primary and then being copied to backup server. How do we configure the test box where we have to do test: we have 8 cpu, we have 16gb of ram , how many hdd

If this is for DR then you would want to configure the secondary as close to the primary configuration as possible. The number of HDD would depend on the IOPs and Throughput that you need to sustain your workload as well as for capacity. For setting up log shipping, that is fairly straightforward and documented heavily on the web.
