Upgrade windows 2003 to windows 2008 R2 on SQL 2005 server

Hi all, I have SQL 2005 server running on Windows 2003 Standard. I want to upgrade Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise but still using SQL 2005. Is that possible? Could someone show me what should I do? Thank you.

My attack on any upgrade is to build new and migrate to it. SQL 2005 will install on Windows Server 2008R2 so no worries there. I don't like any in place upgrades especially with the OS. Hope this helps.

SQL Server 2005 Enterprise is still available on MSDN to download. An MSDN subscription isn't to expensive to be able to pick the media back up. I would much rather go that route then the risk of an OS in place. You might also be able to call Microsoft and get a copy if you can show proof of purchase or an activation. Would at least be worth the call. FYI, I am sure you are also looking at upgrading SQL as 2005 is coming to EOL soon.

Thank you. I want to do that too. My problem is, I lost the SQL 2005 installation disks so I'm trying to upgrade in place.
