You can try this: Create a new query - Write USE M - Hit Ctrl-J or Edit-Intellisense- List Members to see if it works manually. Then: Tools->Options->Text Editor->C# (or All Languages)->General Then enable Auto List Members and Parameter Information If above does not work try: TOOLS -> Settings -> Import and Export Settings Reset settings If it does not work for you, maybe this is the problem: [FIX: The IntelliSense feature in SSMS 2008 R2 may stop working after you install Visual Studio 2010 SP1][1] [1]: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2531482

I recognize that buying a third party product is not possible for everyone, but the lack of functionality and support within SQL Server for it's own intellisense is completely overwhelming. I strongly advocate you pick up a copy of [SQL Prompt][1] by Red Gate (full disclosure, I work for Red Gate). [1]: http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-development/sql-prompt/
