Linked server creation

I have two different domains. Domain A and Domain B . trying to add linked server domain B to Domain A Is it possible if yes provide me the status. Appreciate your quick response.

Yes, as long as the SQL Servers can see each other and the appropriate permissions are being used.

Could you please share the steps and permission details to configure inked server.

First you need ti get few details from your network team: > Whether these two domains are in trust mode to each other (or trust each other) > How are they integrated Security i.e. if they both are based over Active directory etc. then you need to ping both the server from cross domains meaning ping DomainB.ServerB from DomainA. ServerA and vice-verse and ensure you are getting response to your ping request from both sides. Once this is done successfully try adding the link server using FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). Let me know if it doesn't works and I will be happy to help you.

Ask them 1. are these two domains are trusting each others or not. If not do they have the cross domain mechanism for authentication? 2. Are they both using Active Directory for authentication?

Vishal, I just got the update from the security team, There is no trust mode with each other. Is it possible with out trust mode to create the linked server.

Depends, lets check if the servers are responding to the ping requests as suggested above.

Also try accessing the target link server using IP address if there is no trust defined between these two domains. chances are that it may work.
