Hi, i am hearing different answers when i was asking to know about ,How many ips do we need to configure 2 node cluster, like minimum of 3 ,5 etc, wondering what could be the right answer and what is meant by virtual ip,is it different from normal ip? where to look for when there is something in cluster? how to know if the servers are clustered or not?
each node will need an IP address in its own right and then the cluster itself needs an IP address. The cluster IP may be the'virtual' IP address you have heard of as it relates to a device that doesnt have any operating system in its own right. you assign the IP to the cluster name as part of the process when you build the cluster. If you are installing SQL Server then that service will also need an IP address.
