Disk utilization

Team, in my performance report disk says 416/sec..Does it shows disk bits/sec or bytes /sec? How to we define that and wht is the good io rate..

where did you get this 'performance report' from? I'd be tempted to say bytes, as bits/sec is a metric normally used in telecomms/networks

I don't know what report you're referring to, or what measure that report is using, so telling you what it's reading is going to be somewhat difficult. Disk counters that are worth collecting include - % Disk Time - Current Disk queue length - Average Disk queue length - Disk transfers/sec - Disk bytes/sec - Avg disk sec/read - Avg disk sec/write Especially the last two measures. You can also look to sys.dm_io_virtual_file_stats and sys.dm_os_wait_stats to understand how your I/O is behaving.
