mirror setup issue

I am currently stucked in a database mirror installation and I don't know what's causing the problem. Both servers have the same OS, same MSSQL version (same patchlevel) MSSQL 2k8r2 First I tried a mirroring based on windows accounts. Everything works fine until I define the partner on the principal. For some reason, I cannot connect to the mirror. Defining the partner on the mirror works fine. The endpoints are working, ports are open. So i did another try, now using certificates, as described here: [ http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191140.aspx][1] This also fails when defining the partner on the principal. Any ideas? Can you confirm that this is on two different (hardware) servers - the line 'the servers have the same OS' could mean two things...! Are you using the SSMS wizard or TSQL?
