Is it normal for a database to stay the same size even though information is being added.

My databases are staying the same size when I look at disc usage but I know people are adding information. Is this normal

Yes. A database will have allocated a certain size, but some of that is pretty likely going to be empty space. With default settings, at some point, you'll see growth of the database occur automatically as you use up that free space. Then it'll grow and you'll have more free space in it.
