SSIS job failed - 2008 R2 - DTSER_FAILURE(1). But the jobs continues to run.
I have a SSIS package which runs every half an hour to update the sales. The job failed to execute at 10:35 pm. But it executed the job to run after that. The Log File shows this message - Message Executed as user: TMSQLServerSSIS. ng task validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 10:35:00 PM Finished: 10:35:16 PM Elapsed: 16.396 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed. what really happened ? Please help me, i am new with this project. Its running on SQL Server 2008 R2.
Hi there, Your question is a little ambiguous - Can you confirm that your situation is not that there is one schedule SSIS package, which failed, and then ran again half an hour later, according to the schedule? (normal behaviour) Assuming not, and that it is instead an SSIS package that returned a failure from a step, but still ran subsequent steps within that same package, then I would check the following: * What are the precedence constraints between the steps? (Are they on completion - blue line - or on success - green line?) (I assume they are linked with precedence steps - if not, the order which they are run cannot be guaranteed, and would be the reason that subsequent steps continue to run) * What is the maximumerrorcount and FailPackageOnFailure setting on the failing step? It sounds like the package is noting the failure, but not stopping at that point, so something is telling it to continue to the end of the execution and only return a failure at the end of the process, as opposed to stopping at the first failure. There's a couple of places that can happen, so if it's not the first two examples I gave then as @sqlshark suggested, I'd step through the package in BIDS - the error logging when you run the task as a scheduled job is somewhat sparse - and use that as a basis for troubleshooting further.
Hi Dave, The failed package is scheduled to run every 30 minutes. yesterday night it failed again and this time it was a different error. Let me know what you think about it.
