Tried to open SSRS project in Visual Studio 2012, now cannot open in 2008

My company recently installed Visual Studio 2012 on my machine. I tried to open an SSRS report project that I had been previously been working on in BIDS for SQL Server 2008 R2, which is just a 2008 Visual Studio Shell. The project would not open correctly in 2012, but now it will no longer open in BIDS. How can I fix this, to open in BIDS/VS 2008?

Did you have the project in source control? Go to the previously checked out version. Opening it in 2012 it attempted to upgrade the project. It sounds like unsuccessfully. Regardless, now it's not a 2008 project. You need to go to your backups.

Thanks. I have a backup in Source Control, but it's a bit older. It looks like if I create a new solution, then copy the project folders that had been unsuccessfully upgraded into that folder, I can open the projects individually, and that seems to work. I guess the morale is to back up more frequently. Funny - I back up my DBs religiously, but have recently started developing reports, but don't back them up nearly as often as I should. Lesson learned!
