Clustering patch issue

Hello All, Consider Applying patches in sql server clustering Nodes, First i have tried to apply the patches in Passive Node(Node B), It got updated successfully. After that i have tried to Applied in Passive Node A(Fail over Clustering setup to Node B). We received some unknown error. Finally we decided we could not updated the Patch in Node A. That time what kind of action we need to take resolved the issue? **Note :-** This question has been asked in SQL DBA interview. I never faced this situation, So i couldn't answer for this question.

Yes i found some solution, we can remove the service pack from the server which is updated successfully.

This is the type of question you'll get on an interview after we get through the basic questions. It's meant to be open ended without a single firm answer. The interviewer is looking to see how you would address the issue. What kind of questions would you ask in terms of the status of the situation and the servers involved. The answer should be a give and take conversation that shows your troubleshooting skills as well as your knowledge (maybe you have hit exactly this issue). Personally, I don't know what the answer is for certain, but I'd have a whole conversation I could around the issue to show how I'd go about troubleshooting it and the issues involved, where I might go for further information, logs or counters I might check, etc. It has to be YOUR answer, showing your knowledge, not a canned answer from the internet.

You are right.. I never had much chance to work with this kind of Issues. Still i am preparing answer for this question. Meanwhile i concluded, we have to remove patch from other server which we installed successfully.
