Can Primary and Secondary servers of Always on availability group can share the same SAN storage?

If I configure Always ON availability group, whether Primary and Secondary servers use the same SAN storage ? Generally, it is not advisable as per http://www.brentozar.com/archive/2011/07/how-set-up-sql-server-denali-availability-groups/ . But, my question, whether it is possible to configure Primary and Secondary servers to use same SAN storage ?

Sure. You can configure them to use the same storage. It's just defeating the purpose of having an availability group instead of a failover cluster.

I guess the main benefit would be the ability to have zero downtime patches for OS and SQL.

Not sure how that would result in zero down time. You still have to fail over from one machine to the other while patching causing disconnects.
