datafiles and logfiles on same disk, but it's on a SAN

Hi, You'll see this check often (even in sp_blitz): "Datafiles and Logfiles areon the same disk." However, SQL (Windows) doesn't know this drive is stored on a expensive SAN, with lots of caching. So can we ignore this message in this case? Or are there any pitfalls? Is windows in this case the problem? (thread limitation?)
