SQL Server 2012 Clustering with Server 2008 R2

I am attempting to verify that Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition will not run Failover clustering. I would like to run SQL Server 2012 Failover clustering and know that I must first have it turned on in the Server 2008. I am running SQL Server 2012 Enterprise edition but do not have access to the enterprise version of Server 2008 or the Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter version. Is it possible to run Failover Clustering on Server 2008 R2 standard? Thanks much.

You are correct: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard does not support failover clustering. Microsoft have published the edition comparison in a PDF on their site - [ http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/C/6/FC6006B5-866E-42C1-88F8-9AC4B8BC610D/WS%20Brand%20Pages%20-%20Editions%20Comparison%20Guide.pdf][1] Failover clustering is on page 3. If you can go to Windows Server 2012 Standard, you will pick up support for failover clustering - [ http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38809][2] [1]: http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/C/6/FC6006B5-866E-42C1-88F8-9AC4B8BC610D/WS%20Brand%20Pages%20-%20Editions%20Comparison%20Guide.pdf [2]: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38809
