sql access

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but I have setup a linked table to Access so that everything is stored within SQL (Access front end,SQL back end)but as the database is for a user that only uses Access how can I make it possible so they can use the form/DB in Access. I think I need to do something within the permissions on the sql table but I am unsure.

Many thanks in advance

When you set up the link in access, it should ask you to supply a connection, most commonly done with a DSN file. When you are setting up that DSN, it should allow you to specify whether to use windows authentication or or SQL Server authentication. If you set it for SQL Server Authentication, you can give it a login and password that will then by used by that Access Front end and you can configure the permissions on the SQL Backend.

I don't know Access very well, so I might be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure you can save security settings in the Access database. You can create a SQL login on the SQL Server instance and then save that login and password on the Access database.

This article talks about establishing linked table in Access for all SQL Server tables. In this article, you can add addtional filter to specify the specific table names, you want to establish linked table. It uses Trusted connection(windows Authentication) as TimothyAWiseman has suggested. http://wiki.lessthandot.com/index.php/Link_All_SQL_Server_Tables
