full backup

Hi All, We have configured maintenance plan for daily full backup. The job took's more then 6 hours hour (db size is 91 gb) after that try to execute manually then sql is giving below error. Can you please us to find reason why it is not happen. Execute Maintenance Plan - Execute maintenance plan. Full_DB_Backup (Error) Messages * Execution failed. You are trying to execute it again after the job has already run once in the day; or you are trying again during the time the job is still running?

Thanks for the responce. we are trying again during the time the job is still running. We have awaited nearly 16 hours after that tried to execute manually.Daily it takes only 15 to 20 min to complete.

You can't run a job while that job is still running - you can't have two instances of a job running at the same time. If you're getting that problem and you're not expecting it, it soulds like your job might still be running. Check. If it is, that's another problem...

And, you need to look to see why that job is taking so long. 91gb should back up in less than an hour, easily. You must have contention or something else going on. As a start, look at sys.dm_exec_requests to see if you have blocked processes.
