I know I'm not a regular here (and might not have earned the stripes to say anything about it) and, while I appreciate the intent, it's pretty annoying to have a significant group of posts rise to the top because Grant added a comment of...

The site runs on voting. Please indicate all helpful answers by clicking on the thumbs up symbols next to those answers. Please indicate any one answer that lead to the best solution by clicking on the check mark next to that answer.

Any chance of you either stopping that practice or adjusting the forum software so that it doesn't move such posts to the top of the question pile?

That'd be one of the reasons I generally view by "newest question" rather than "most recent activity"...

This is defined by your sort order. Selecting 'Newest' for your sort order will show you questions sorted by when they were asked.

But that's not what I want to do. I want to see the "normal" activity order and the comment that's being posted strongly interferes with that.

Commenting, voting and accepting answers is normal activity. Something moving the sort order of an older question is an edge case as it is, as usually they're answered quickly or fall far enough down the sort order that they're left alone.
