without using sql profiler.how we will trace sql objects

i had asked by recuriter.They told me, is there any method to tracing the sqlserver objects.normally i am using profiler to tracing the sql server objects.but they says,without using sql server profiler.how will find the problem.

I'd be curious to hear how you answered the question. Was there anything more to the question; what is the problem and what would you want to trace about the objects - creation, deletion, modification, usage, contention, something else?

In SQL Server 2008 and above there are Extended Events, which were further extended in SQL Server 2012. Extended events should replace the profiler.
