SSRS - report versions

The customers create some transactions and generate a report in SSRS. The report can be regenerated even 6 months later. I should be able to generate the report as it was 6 months ago, even if the format changed since then. So, the regenerated report should look like the original one. Any ideas how to implement this?

You can use report snapshots.

That is basically saving a report. Is there a way to do it without saving a report? Is it possible to keep multiple versions of report layout in SSRS?

So you are essentially after point-in-time formatting. Should the data be current when the report body is from a previous format?

Offhand, I can't think of a way to do this without saving the report or maintaining multiple versions of the report. Something like MyReport_20130101_Layout followed by MyReport_20130413_Layout if the format changed on 13 April 2013, for example.
