how to upgrade sqlserver (2008) 10.0.1600 to 10.50.1600?

I have sql server instance 2008 (10.0.1600) and I want to restore DB which is backed up on sql server 2008 10.50.1600. How do I upgrade my sql server on 10.50.1600?

You will have to purchase a SQL Server 2008R2 license. Version 10.0 is SQL 2008, 10.50 is SQL 2008R2. Do you know if the backup from 10.50 was on standard, enterprise or express edition? To directly answer your question though, you acquire the appropriate license for the edition you need, then simply do an in place upgrade, a named instance install, or can uninstall the old version and do a clean default instance install of the new version.
