error while installing sp3 for sql server 2008 r2

When i try to install SQL server 2008 R2 SP3 i am getting the error as below There are no Sql Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1600.1 [X64] Apr 2 2010 15:48:46 Copyright (c0 microsoft corporation enterpirse edition 964 bit0 on windows NT 6.1 {Build 7601: Service Pack 1} trying to find the solution to install SQL server 2008 R2 SP3 since 4 days

Take a look at this site. It is a list of server builds by number. According to your information you are trying to install Service Pack 3 for SQL 2008 R2. There isn't an SP3 for R2 just an SP3 for SQL Server 2008. http://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.com/

Thanks you are right. can you please help me how to update sql server 2008 R2 version 10.50.1600.1 to 10.50.1600.22 i wanted to install one software which requires SP3.

The site I gave you shows the build numbers and the associated KB/Description of the Service Pack or CU that changes the build number. Find the one you want, read the release notes, download, follow instructions on download page to install.
