Hello all, there was a scheduled job in sql server 2005 which started failing from last few days.the msg is as shown: Executed as user: Job_Agent. At least one of the following parameters must be specified. "@recipients, @copy_recipients, @blind_copy_recipients". [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 14624). The step failed. actually its running a stored procedure. previously also the same but the stored procedure ran successfully ndn the job executed successfully. recently there was a change in mail server name in our server so we changed that from then we are facing the another error in database mail log the error is : The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 2 (2013-04-17T09:11:51). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Unable to send to all recipients.). ) can any one please help why this job is failing and why the errors are raised in database mail after changing the mail server name. i checked after the mail server name change some mails are going but some are failing with the error which i posted.

When the mail server changed, did you happen to change over from one mail carrier to another, say from GroupWise, Lotus notes to Exchange, or from one version of Exchange to another? I have seen with some clients that their SMTP relay doesn't care who the sender is and then they change over to a more restrictive mail server and the sending address must be valid. For example, you may chose the sender address to be servername@domain.com, if that address isn't a valid address in exchange it will fail. I have also seen if you have multiple email address in the TO: field, that if they are supposed to be internal addresses for your domain and one becomes invalid (person quit), then the email job will fail. By you chaning mail servers I would question what rules have changed from the old mail server to the new.

only the migration of collaborator mailboxes to new email backend system was done.they provided new server name and the same port 25 for smtp protocaol.only the server name was changed as they suggested.after that some mails are successfully going and some are failing. please suggest any idea to overcome this situation.

What are your email admins seeing? If the only thing you had to change was the servername for the mail server (or IP address of the mail server) then clearly something on their side is differnet in the configuration of the mail server. What are they seeing in their logs?

Sure, you can't ever go wrong with stating the facts. Simply tell them that you updated your mail server with the new name and that email steps are failing. Ask them if they can review their logs for your sending address (FROM:) and see what is failing. They should be able to provide that information easily. Hopefully they will then be able to make any tweaks to correct the issue or tell you what would need to be changed. It could be you are sending to non existing mail boxes which could be causing the step to fail. A good rule of thumb is to only send to distribution groups instead of specific people's email address. That way when people are added or quit you don't have to make a change, the email admin does.
