group tags for unknow depth in xpath

Hi, how to traverse to the last depth of a xpath and group it with appropriate parents http://ask.sqlservercentral.com/questions/96451/get-xml-from-xpath-and-col-value.html gives answer to group parent and child but how to make it work for unknown depth say for example

   /root/first/one,
    /root/first/two,
    /root/.../././..
any sample tsq will be helpful
