Non-SysAdmins have been denied permission to run DTS Execution job steps without a proxy account. The step failed.

Hi everyone!

I did a move from a physical SQL Server to VM and everything overall went REALLY well. I did check the jobs and I am receiving the below error:

Non-SysAdmins have been denied permission to run DTS Execution job steps without a proxy account. The step failed.

I checked that the domain\SQL.Service, sa, and my own domain account are part of the Server Role sysadmin but I think I'm overlooking something. I have read about the credentials and the Proxy account, but I'm not sure if this is what I HAVE to do or not if the accounts are part of the sysadmin role.

Does anyone know what may be happening here? Your knowledge and feedback is very much appreciated, as always! This forum is AMAZING and full of great knowledge.

I had to go through each job and reset the OWNER. Once I have reselected the owner, the jobs ran fine. I had run a CREATE scripts during the move which I had thought this would have captured the accurate accounts, but I believe the account as OWNER has been decomissioned on the VM SQL Server.

Hi, Have you restore the master database to Vm because it contains Proxy account configuration , if not then you have to reconfigure the proxy acount right click the server instance go to security tab and configure the proxy account.

No that was a database I was hesitant to restore during the move. I feared if that got corrupt or anything went wrong, then I'd be dead in the water and unable to rollback. Okay I will look to configure manually. Thanks. I will click the check if that resolves my issue.

To be quite honest I don't know what the proxy account was or should be. I have the server admin taking a look at the old box for me since I have been unable to move from my desk. I have tried some SYSADMIN accounts as the Proxy account in the security tab but nothing worked.

Server Admin called and verified that we did not have the Server Proxy Account configured. Any other ideas as to how we can resolve this issue?

New code box

There's a new way to format code on the site - the red speech bubble logo will automatically format T-SQL for you. The original code box is still there for XML, etc. More details here.
