Is there a way to edit Intellisense in SSMS (2008 or higher)? When I type certain words, I get a totally undesireable outcome. Example: I want a CASE statement ... I get CASE_DEFINITION ... and it is annoying. I would like to be able to edit its list and remove CASE_DEFINITION.

There's no way that I know to edit this list (it's something people have been requesting for a while). Honestly, I'd spend the $195 for SQLPrompt from RedGate (http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-development/sql-prompt/) and turn off Intellisense completely. *Note: I do not work for, nor are affiliated with RedGate in any capacity That was what I was afraid of ... I would get SQL Prompt if my company was willing to purchase it ... Thanks for the quick response!

For that price point and the huge productivity gains that SQLPrompt will provide (not just intellisense but the formatting, snippets as well) I think it's worth raiding your bank account for your own license.

I've only worked for Red Gate for 18 months, but I've been using Prompt for years & years. I guarantee, even non-profits can see the benefit of the tool and pay the $195. It's well worth it.

SQL Complete (http://www.devart.com/dbforge/sql/sqlcomplete/editions.html) does the job too: just $79. It's a bargain :)

Atlantis Interactive has created a nice free alternative to SSMS called SQL Everywhere. I am not sure if the intellisense can be adjusted but it works alot better than SSMS out of the box, so it might suffice for you as is. It is a very good tool for being free and has some nice features in it.
