Subscriber data not created

I have followed the link below http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/ee818985.aspx?ppud=4 and I was able to create the subscriber database in a different server but it is not reading the data. I have used the same username and password as it was in the publisher database to create subscriber but the sqlserver agent job states cannot connect to the local server. What could be wrong?
