SSRS parameter selection

Hello,

I'm required to create a report with SSRS with multiple parameters. I have Date and Serialnumber parameters. I want both parameters to appear on the report when it's generated however i don't want a user to only use one of the two partameters and not both at once. any ideas?

thanks Pinkett

Can you confirm please that my understanding is correct that a user will have 2 parameters available but use 1 OR the other and not both together?

There is no way of stopping someone only entering data in one parameter, however there was a post on here recently that showed how you can display a parameter based on a previous parameter therefore you could set a parameter to say "Do you wish to enter "A" or "B"?" then based on the output display the correct parameter. If this is of interest I'll find the question and post a link.

Hi Mrs_Fatherjack, all i want really is maybe a query or dataset to say for e.g SearchByCriteria (Daterange or serial Number) but not both, yes both will be visible once the report is generated, however the user can either use a date range or a serial no.
