[Closed] Changing a Text datatype to XML, what are the impacts on log shipping

Hi everyone,

I am due to make a change to our 2005 Production DB. This change involves updating a Text field to XML.

The questions are:

• what impact will this have on both databases regarding size/growth and how would I measure and manage this • what is the impact to any log shipping to our disaster recovery database as I expect it to grow substantially?

Many thanks, Phil

It looks like you got this answered over at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1296801-146-1.aspx

I've seen the same space doubling that was discussed there.

New code box

There's a new way to format code on the site - the red speech bubble logo will automatically format T-SQL for you. The original code box is still there for XML, etc. More details here.
