How 2 change approle password and store it NOT in plain text?

Hi there,

just a quick question to gather some ideas. There´s the need to change the password of an application role. Is there any way to store the new password not in plain text in the update script?

Best regards Dirk

You can certainly use some programming language and make an executable file. SQL Packager is a good tool that can be helpful. You would be able to make an EXE file or open it as 2 C# project. But still the command could be traceable with use of Profiler etc.

If you use ALTER APPLICATION ROLE, then the password will not be shown in the profiler.
