sql-server-2005 disk -io

Hi,

I/O operations are distributed over the data files and log files and wait time per read(ms) is very high in my environment SQL server 2005.how can we improve the wait time per read(ms).

Please suggest

Yes...data files and log files are residing on different drives which are SAN and tables are spread the across the datafiles

No multiple instances adn databases and fragmenting the indexes based on average fragmentation value on every sunday
